    GYMNAST

    (Team GB)

Hi my name in Neo, I am ten years old and I am from Leeds.

My favourite things to do when I am not in the gym are playing football, riding my scooter and playing on my Xbox.

I go to school all day, everyday and my mum or dad picks me up and we go straight to training. I have to eat my dinner in the car on the way there and sometimes I am really tired and I have rips on my hands and marks on my wrists from all the bars and rings training and I feel like it is hard work but soon as I get there and I start training, I love it! (and my coach is the best ☺).

I have two annoying older brothers and three older sisters, so that makes me the youngest ☺

TikTok and You Tube are my favourite things to watch. I can do all the TikTok dances.

I have lots of competitions coming up and GB squad training which means I have a lot of travelling to do and lots of different equipment and kit my mum and dad have to buy. I would really love it if you could support me on my journey. If you would like to help, please click the link below.

You can also keep up-to-date with what I am doing by following me on (TikTok, Instagram YouTube and Twitter)

Neo Fowler’s

Journey
so far

Neo was labelled as "hyperactive" when he was two years old. Neo had glue ear which affected his hearing and he had poor vision. We later discovered that he had tongue tie which had gone undetected for many years, as he had cleverly learnt how to navigate his speech around his twisted tongue which was attached to the inside of his mouth.

From a very young age, Neo taught himself how to spin on his head and flip backwards off the furniture. His nursery keyworker aged several years during his time there, from the sheer panic and worry everytime he moved.

Neo would stand on his head to eat meals and could not stay still long enough to watch a tv programme. He was labelled with having a poor attention span and diagnosed by the speech and language therapist with communication difficulties

As Neo's parents, we decided to channel his "hyperactivity" into something positive. We signed Neo up for gymnastics at Leeds Gymnastics Club at the age of three. Neo quickly progressed and became part of LGC's squad, competing in the Yorkshire competitions and also Nationally bringing home gold, silver and bronze medals.

Neo has always had a keen interest in Dance and used to attend RJC dance classes however, due to gym commitments he was unable to continue. (You'll often see him dancing around from one place to another).

When Neo was 4 years old he suffered three bereavements within weeks of one another. He lost his grandfather, his uncle and his class friend, all of whom he had a close relationship with. Neo struggled to verbally communicate the impact of these losses, however continued to put his energy into his training and was able to stay motivated. He continued to excel in the gym.

At 10 years old Neo has been selected to be part of the Foundation Team GB Squad for 2022. Neo is a popular, kind and caring boy who always looks after others and calls everyone his friends.
